Senior Mechanical Engineer

Building a prototype is exciting. Turning it into a reliable, manufacturable product that can be produced at scale is where the real engineering begins. At Radian, you'll play a defining role in bringing the next generation of high-performance electric motorcycles from prototype to production. Your decisions will directly shape the motorcycles that riders around the world will experience.
Your role
We're looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer with hands-on experience taking complex mechanical products from prototype to production. You'll be responsible for transforming our current development platform into a production-ready motorcycle, balancing performance, manufacturability, reliability, cost and quality.
Working closely with our multidisciplinary engineering team, you'll own major mechanical systems throughout the entire product development cycle. From detailed design and supplier collaboration to validation and production readiness, you'll help build the engineering foundation for Radian's first production motorcycles.
Your responsibilities
- Play a major role in the mechanical development from prototype to production.
- Design, optimize and validate mechanical components and assemblies for production.
- Improve designs for manufacturability (DFM), assembly (DFA), reliability and cost.
- Collaborate closely with suppliers on component development, manufacturing processes and quality.
- Define tolerances, manufacturing methods and production documentation.
- Perform design reviews, engineering calculations and root cause analyses.
- Support prototype builds, testing and validation activities.
- Work together with electrical, software and manufacturing engineers to deliver an integrated product.
- Drive continuous improvement throughout the development process.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to building engineering best practices.
Your profile
We are looking for someone who:
- Has a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline;
- Has 5+ years of professional mechanical design experience;
- Has proven experience bringing complex products from prototype into series production;
- Has strong CAD skills, preferably in SolidWorks;
- Has experience working with suppliers and manufacturing partners;
- Has a strong understanding of manufacturing processes such as castings and injection moulding, affiliated with large-scale vehicle production;
- Has experience within the motorcycle or automotive industry;
- Is comfortable working in a fast-moving startup environment where ownership and initiative are valued;
- Is a strong communicator, collaborative, and comfortable working autonomously;
- Is able to communicate effectively in English. Dutch proficiency is a bonus.
- Has the ability to work across multiple engineering disciplines;
- A bonus: passion for motorcycles, motorsport, and/or electric vehicles. A student team background (MotoStudent, Formula Student or comparable) is always nice.
Practicalities
- This is a full-time position of 40 hours per week.
- We are looking for someone who can join as soon as possible.
- The position is primarily on-site at our office in Hengelo, The Netherlands. A hybrid arrangement can be discussed.
What we offer
We offer the unique experience of being involved with a startup in its early stages, working on a product that is genuinely pushing the boundaries of electric motorsport. You will be part of a small, passionate team where your ideas and contributions have real impact. As a fast-growing startup, there is plenty of room to take initiative and make the role your own.
